It's Raining, It's Pouring!

Today in Norfolk, Va

I had a terrific day with a very good friend.  We wandered around the city and waterfront.  We ended our adventures with a nice lunch at Olive Garden before heading back home.  It started out rainy, sunny, and ended with the boys splashing in puddles and getting soaked.  It poured this evening!  What a beautiful day to be out and about.  What a beautiful evening to finish it off with thunder and lightning, good rain, and a movie.  Nice.

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a terrific Mother's Day!  The boys made me all kinds of sweet handcrafted gifts.  I celebrated with the entire family last weekend when we went camping, out to dinner at Carsin's, and a visit to Havre de Grace  in Maryland.  Saturday, we were at the ball park all day.  I have a nice set of raccoon eyes and farmer's tan to prove it!  Afterward, we decided to go pick strawberries before the season ends.  After we came home and had dinner we had "movie night" with popcorn and played Zach's new "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" board game.  We were all pretty exhausted and happy to hit the pillow!  Sunday, we decided to go to church because we hadn't been since Easter.  I have found a church I actually like, but I don't go all of the time.  Chris is not much of a church person, but the boys and I enjoy going once in awhile.  We then went errand running and home to work in the garden and get ready for school.  We thought about running to Williamsburg for some shopping and a ferry boat ride, but knew it would be too late before getting home.  It would have been a perfect day to be by the water.  I didn't attempt it between it being Mother's Day weekend and Monster Trucks at the beach...too crowded for my taste!  Besides, I have plans with one of my girlfriends to go to the mall and out taking pictures this week.  Hooray!

My garden is doing well.  I have squash of some sort blooming (not sure if it is , zucchini, yellow squash, or watermelon even)!  My sweet peas are in bloom too.  My potatoe plants have popped through the ground too.  I picked lettuce, radishes, onions, and greens again.  I set out 15 tomato plants, pepper plants, and planted corn and beans.  My garden is huge this year...not really on purpose, but just kind of turned out that way.  I still have sunflowers to plant and more tomatoes to set out....as well as random squash plants, but waiting to see what I already have.  I will probably have plenty to share this year!

The corn fields are growing pretty quick.  The rows look really cool.  This huge ground hog has a home out in the field.  I was able to get a somewhat decent picture of him.  Hopefully, we can get rid of him before he finds my garden!

I will be cleaning these lovely berries today!  I actually have two bowls full (about two gallons)!
